First, let me start by saying that I am not a psychologist, psychiatrist, therapist or any other type of physician for that matter so I am by no means an expert in sleep disorders. I do not suffer from depression, that I know of anyway and don't really have anxiety issues, I just can't sleep.
It's pretty much the same routine with me, I go to bed at a decent hour, get under the covers, close my eyes and then......nothing. Sure, I may doze off every now & then but for the most part, I'm looking at my alarm clock that I keep on the floor almost every hour. I'm not sure if this qualifies as a "sleep disorder" or not but I just can't seem to shut my brain down at night and my mind constantly races. I can go on and on about homeopathic remedies, mild sleeping pills, new pillows & everything else I've tried but I'll spare you the details.
So about six weeks ago, I tried a product: The StimTens Myocalme Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation Device. Why not, I sell them. I guess this kind of parallels how a painter doesn't pain his/her own house. I have tested this device many times but really haven't "used" it until recently.
To summarize my experience, as I said, I started using the Stimtens Myocalme CES device about six weeks ago and used it religiously every night. I usually end my nights watching a little TV, then reading and then would use the StimTens CES for about 20 minutes around 10 or 10:30 pm. When you're using it, there's nothing really extraordinary to be honest, I guess that's a good thing. You just simply clip the electrodes to your ears & then sit back and relax. I've seen some devices out there that utilize sponges on your temples, personally, I don't think I'd sleep for weeks if I used that, but with the ear electrodes, you don't even notice them.
I felt somewhat of a mild pulsing/massage sensation on my earlobes & that's it. Almost like someone is rubbing them softly. From the 1st night, I slept better with the cranial electrotherapy device. I'm not sure how long or exactly when I woke up, but I did sleep better. The 2nd night was the same, again, I don't know how long I slept but I was actually woken up by my alarm at 7 am and that NEVER happens. Anyway, I've been using the Stimtens CES device for about six weeks now and it really has helped. Yes, there are a few nights where I still toss and turn but for the most part, I've been sleeping soundly and will continue to use it. I will continue to keep it on my nightstand for the weeks & months to come.
